A relationship with God happens when:

Admit you need a Saviour:

"For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" (Romans3:23).  "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God" (John 3:3)

We can't do this without Him

"Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us" (Titus 3:5)

Jesus loves you enough to die for you

"For He (God) hath made him (Jesus) to be sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made righteous of God in him" (II Corinthians 5:21)  "For God so loved the world, that he gave us his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16)

Trust His Gift

"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name"
(John 1:12)  "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved" (Romans 10:9)

Accept His Gift

"Behold, now is the accepted time, behold, now is the day of salvation" (I Corinthians 6:2)
